A German car service group says it’s trying to expand beyond the German market by building out its own car service network in Australia.
German vehicle services company Forman Group says it will soon begin offering vehicle service to New Zealand drivers.
It has already launched its own fleet of Mercedes cars to Auckland.
The New Zealand Taxi Association has welcomed the announcement, saying it would allow people from all parts of the country to drive to their destination without the hassle of waiting in queues.
“This is a significant step in the right direction for the taxi industry, and it gives us a chance to demonstrate to other operators and taxi users that our service is the best in the industry,” said the association’s general secretary, James O’Neill.
Forman Group is building a fleet of two new luxury Mercedes vehicles in Auckland.
Its Auckland fleet is comprised of two models, the Lexus RX450 and RX450H.
The company is also planning to offer its own Lexus SUV in the near future.
The new vehicles will be able to go around the city of Auckland with the assistance of a driver who is a member of Forman’s driver team.
“Forman will continue to build its fleet of vehicles and service its drivers,” the company said in a statement.
“The future of our industry depends on the continued expansion of our drivers, and we are confident we can build on our successful track record and deliver our drivers the best possible service to all New Zealanders.”
Formans new fleet of luxury Mercedes cars is expected to hit the road in 2018.
