Penske driver charged in fatal crash involving car

A Penske vehicle service driver was arrested after the driver of a minivan struck a vehicle that was headed in the opposite direction in a northbound crash.

A Penskes spokesman said a Penske employee at the scene was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials said a driver in a minibus, driven by an employee of Penske, struck the minivan.

The crash was reported about 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of the 101 Freeway and Interstate 10, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Authorities said a man in a Dodge pickup was traveling southbound on the 101 when the minibus veered into his lane and hit the van, killing him.

A woman in a Nissan Sentra was also in the van.

A person who was driving the minivans westbound was uninjured.

A spokeswoman for the CHP did not have further information on the crash.

Authorities had been investigating the collision.

The Penskes vehicle service has more than 2,100 customers in California, including about 4,500 customers on the westbound 101 Freeways.
